Calcium hydroxide, an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Ca(OH)2, commonly known as hydrated lime or hydrated lime. It is a white powdery solid that forms two layers after adding water. The upper aqueous solution is called clear lime water, and the lower suspension is called lime milk or lime slurry. Insoluble in alcohols, soluble in ammonium salts and glycerol, able to react with acids to generate corresponding calcium salts. At 580 ℃, it decomposes into calcium oxide and water.
