This product can be used as a heat stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride and has excellent lubricity. The thermal stability efficiency is average, inferior to barium stearate, lead stearate, tin stearate, and cadmium stearate. But it is cheap and easy to obtain, with low toxicity and good processability. When used in combination with zinc soap and epoxy compounds, it has a synergistic effect and can improve thermal stability. It is commonly used in soft products such as food packaging films and medical devices that require non-toxic properties. When used in hard products together with basic lead salts and lead soaps, the gel speed can be improved. Calcium stearate is used in polyethylene and polypropylene to eliminate the adverse effects of residual catalysts on resin color and stability. This product is also widely used as a lubricant and release agent for thermosetting plastics such as polyolefins, polyester reinforced plastics, phenolic resins, amino resins, etc.
