Diacetylguanine (abbreviated as 2,6-DDE) is an organic compound. It is a derivative of purine compounds and structurally contains a diacetyl group substituted at the 2 and 6 positions of the guanine molecule.
Diacetylguanine has strong stability and is insoluble in water, but slightly soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether.
Diacetylguanine is mainly used in laboratories as a chemical reagent, for instance, as a reagent and catalyst in organic synthesis.
Diacetylguanine can be obtained by the reaction of guanine with acetic anhydride. The specific steps involve dissolving guanine in an acetylation reagent, conducting the reaction at an appropriate temperature and reaction time, and then purifying the product through extraction and crystallization.
It is irritating to the skin and eyes. Protective gloves and goggles should be worn during operation. Operation should be carried out in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling its dust. It should be stored in a dry and cool place, away from fire sources and oxidants.
