Details

Solvent Naphtha 100 and 150 (with the shared CAS No. 64742 - 94 - 5) are common high - boiling aromatic solvent naphthas derived from petroleum distillation. They are widely used in multiple industrial fields due to their excellent solubility. Below is a detailed English product introduction covering their core properties, specific specifications, main applications, and packaging & storage:

Product Introduction: Solvent Naphtha 100 & 150

Basic Information

Item Details
English Name Solvent Naphtha 100; Solvent Naphtha 150
Chinese Name 100# Solvent Naphtha; 150# Solvent Naphtha
CAS No. 64742 - 94 - 5 (Shared for both grades)
EINECS No. 265 - 198 - 5
Molecular Formula C9
Molecular Weight 108.099

Core Properties and Specifications

Both grades are colorless, non - viscous aromatic hydrocarbon liquids, featuring strong aromatic odors and being insoluble in water while miscible with most aromatic solvents. Their key specifications differ slightly to adapt to various application scenarios:

1. Solvent Naphtha 100

Also known as Solvent Naphtha C9, its composition is dominated by C9 aromatic hydrocarbons (accounting for 90% of the total). It typically contains 20 - 45% of 1,2,4 - trimethylbenzene, 8 - 15% of 1,3,5 - trimethylbenzene, and 25 - 35% of mixed ethyltoluenes. It has moderate volatility and strong solvency, which is suitable for scenarios requiring balanced dissolving capacity and evaporation rate.

2. Solvent Naphtha 150

It is often called heavy aromatic solvent naphtha or Solvent C10. Compared with Solvent Naphtha 100, it has a higher boiling point and flash point. The typical specifications are as follows: the initial boiling point is no less than 175℃ (usually around 180℃), the final boiling point is no more than 210℃ (generally 205℃); the flash point is at least 63℃ (typical value 67℃); the aromatic content is as high as 98% or more, and the density at 15℃ is about 0.88 kg/L. It has low volatility and stable performance at high temperatures.

Main Applications

Both solvents are workhorses in industrial production, with application scenarios tailored to their properties:

  1. Coatings and Resins Industry
    • Solvent Naphtha 100 is used as a solvent and additive in varnishes, wood coatings, and alkyd paints. It helps reduce the viscosity of coatings for easier construction and acts as a softener to improve the flexibility of coating films.
    • Solvent Naphtha 150 is ideal for high - temperature baking coatings, marine paints, polyurethane waterproof coatings, and fluorocarbon paints. It is also a key solvent for polyimide resins, saturated polyester resins, and alkyd resins, ensuring stable performance during resin synthesis and coating curing.
  2. Agrochemical and Petrochemical Fields
    • Solvent Naphtha 100 serves as a carrier and auxiliary solvent in pesticide and agrochemical formulations, helping to dissolve active ingredients and enhance the efficacy of the products.
    • Solvent Naphtha 150 is widely used in the production of oilfield chemicals. It also functions as wash oil in ethylene crackers, which can effectively remove impurities in the cracking process.
  3. Other Industrial UsesBoth grades can be applied in ink formulation and metal part cleaning. Solvent Naphtha 100 is suitable for preparing printing inks with moderate drying speeds. Solvent Naphtha 150 is often used as a solvent for metal cleaning due to its low evaporation rate, which can ensure thorough degreasing and cleaning of parts.

Packaging, Storage and Safety

  1. Packaging: Common packaging options include 16L tin oil cans, 170kg steel drums, and 1000L IBC tanks. For bulk orders, tanker trucks are available for transportation to meet different purchase needs of customers.
  2. Storage: It should be stored in a cool, dry, and well - ventilated warehouse away from direct sunlight and high temperatures. The storage area must be kept away from oxidants and open flames. When stored in accordance with standard requirements, the shelf life can reach 2 years.
  3. Safety Precautions: It is a flammable liquid. The hazard code is XN, and the GHS hazard statement includes H304 (may cause aspiration hazard if swallowed). Operators should wear protective equipment such as goggles and gloves during use. In case of contact with the skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Smoking and other fire - producing activities are strictly prohibited in the operation and storage areas.
