Description: Choline chloride is a white hygroscopic crystal, tasteless, fishy smell. The 10% aqueous solution has a pH of 5-6 and is unstable in lye. Choline chloride is soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in diethyl ether, petroleum ether, benzene and carbon disulfide. Choline chloride was developed by the Agricultural Technology Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan in 1964 and registered as a plant growth regulator in 1987. It is also known as vitamin B4.
