Tirzepatide has a similar sequence to semaglutide, with the lys side chains in the sequence modified with PEG, which are functional groups of peptides and can increase the water solubility of the sequence. The main physiological function of Tirzepatide is the dual agonist of glucose dependent insulin nutritional polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor. It is being developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and has entered the clinical stage.
