• Aspirin is usually a white, crystalline powder or colorless crystals. It is odorless when pure but may develop a vinegar-like odor when it starts to decompose. It is slightly soluble in water and more soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol.

History

• The history of aspirin can be traced back to ancient times. People used the bark and leaves of willow trees to relieve pain and reduce fever. In 1897, Felix Hoffmann, a chemist at Bayer, successfully synthesized acetylsalicylic acid and made it into a stable medicinal form, which was named aspirin and began to be widely used in the medical field.
