9005-38-3 - Nature
White or light yellow powder, almost odorless, tasteless. Soluble in water to form a viscous liquid, insoluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform and acid (pH <3). It is hygroscopic, and the pH value of 1% of the water is 6 to 8. The viscosity of aqueous solution is stable at pH 6 ~ 9, and gelling can be formed in the presence of high-priced ions such as Ca2+. It is compatible with hydroxycellulose, protein, sugar, starch and most water-soluble gums.

9005 - 38 - 3 - Inspection
Clarity and Color of Solution
- Take 0.10 g of this product, add an appropriate amount of water and stir continuously until dissolved, dilute with water to 30 ml, shake well, and let stand for 1 hour. Accurately measure 1.0 ml, place it in a 10 - ml volumetric flask, dilute with water to the mark, shake well, and inspect according to the law (General Rule 0901 and General Rule 0902). The solution should be clear and colorless. If it is turbid, when compared with Turbidity Standard Solution No. 2 (Method 1 of General Rule 0902), it should not be more turbid. If it shows color, when compared with Yellow Color Standard Solution No. 2 (Method 1 of General Rule 0901), it should not be darker.
Chloride
- Weigh accurately 2.5 g of this product, place it in a 100 - ml volumetric flask, add 50 ml of dilute nitric acid, shake for 1 hour, dilute with dilute nitric acid to the mark, shake well, and filter. Accurately measure 50 ml of the subsequent filtrate, accurately add 10 ml of silver nitrate titrant (0.1 mol/L), add 5 ml of toluene and 2 ml of ferric ammonium sulfate indicator solution, and titrate with ammonium thiocyanate titrant (0.1 mol/L). Shake vigorously when approaching the end - point. Each 1 ml of silver nitrate titrant (0.1 mol/L) is equivalent to 3.545 mg of Cl. The content of Cl shall not exceed 1.0%.
Loss on Drying
- Take 0.5 g of this product, dry it at 105 °C for 4 hours. The weight loss shall not exceed 15.0% (General Rule 0831).
Residue on Ignition
- Take 0.5 g of this product, inspect according to the law (General Rule 0841). Calculated on the dried basis, the residue left should be 30.0% - 36.0%.
Calcium Salt
- Take two portions of 0.1 g of this product respectively and place them in conical flasks. In one portion, digest with 5 ml of nitric acid, quantitatively transfer it to a 100 - ml volumetric flask, dilute with water to the mark, shake well, accurately measure 10 ml, place it in a 100 - ml volumetric flask, dilute with water to the mark, and shake well as the test solution. In the other portion, accurately add a standard calcium solution (a solution containing 1000 μg of calcium per 1 ml) and operate in the same way as the control solution. Determine respectively according to Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (Method 2 of General Rule 0406) at a wavelength of 422.7 nm. It should meet the requirements (1.5%).
Lead
- Take two portions of 1.0 g of this product respectively and place them in conical flasks. In one portion, digest with 10 ml of nitric acid, quantitatively transfer it to a 10 - ml volumetric flask, dilute with water to the mark, shake well as the test solution. In the other portion, accurately add 1 ml of standard lead solution (accurately measure an appropriate amount of single - element lead standard solution and quantitatively dilute it with water to prepare a solution containing 10 μg of lead per 1 ml), and operate in the same way as the control solution. Determine respectively according to Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (Method 2 of General Rule 0406) at a wavelength of 283.3 nm. It should meet the requirements (0.001%).
