Physicochemical properties:The pure product is a white plate like crystalline body, the general commodity contains impurities, and it is a colorless or slightly yellow transparent liquid at more than 20 degrees C. It has a strong aroma of Acacia. It dissolves in water and is easy to dissolve in a variety of organic solvents. It is easily soluble in propylene glycol, non volatile oil and insoluble in glycerol. It is the simplest aromatic ketone, in which the aromatic nucleus (benzene ring) is directly linked to the carbonyl group. It can be volatilized with steam and can produce benzoic acid when oxidizing; it can produce ethylbenzene when reduced, and ethyl cyclohexane is generated when completely hydrogenated. It is used for making soap and cigarettes, as well as solvent for cellulose ester and resin, and plasticizer in the production of plastic industry. You can also make sleeping pills.

Usage: Acetophenone can be made by the reaction of benzene with acetyl chloride and acetic anhydride or acetic acid in the presence of alcl3. In addition, acetophenone is a by-product when ethylbenzene is catalyzed and oxidized to styrene. Acetophenone can have an addition reaction of carbonyl, a reaction of active hydrogen, and an electrophilic substitution reaction on the benzene ring, which mainly produces the interposition product. Acetophenone is used mainly as a raw material for pharmaceutical and other organic synthesis, and is also used in the preparation of spices. For making soap and cigarettes, it can also be used as a solvent for cellulose ether, cellulose ester and resin, as well as plastic plasticizer, which is hypnotic. When the solvent is used, it has high boiling point, stable, pleasant odor and so on. Solubility is similar to cyclohexanone, which can dissolve nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, ethylene resin, coumarone resin, alkyd resin, glycerol alkyd resin and so on. It is often used in combination with ethanol, ketone, ester and other solvents. When used for spices, it is hawthorn; Mimosa; lilacs and other essential ingredients, and are widely used in soaping and tobacco essence.
